Excellent.
I am actually very impressed at the writing of this show.
Why? Because think about it this way. There are so many anime out there that try to cram so much in, that it feels rushed and is hard to understand.
But this anime? It crams so much in, but the audience is able to keep up with it. Apparently this is really hard to do because a lot of anime fail at it. Heck, there are anime that has twice the length of this anime, does not do as much, and still fails and just throws everything away with the heroine turning into a giant robot and whatever crap.
Also, it is quite hard to predict. Yet everything that happens has a reason and is understandable.
To think that the old man dying from a "joke" moment even leads to the very emotional scene of the Dragon meeting up with his dad as he dies. Man, that was just a sucker punch that I teared up.
And of course, the entire Paladin crew too. Torai, for instance. Man.
And although the OP is great too, the ED is probably one of the best this season if not the best. The song, of course, but the animation too, where it shows the outer side and inner side of each character.
And finally, the other thing that stands out is the sound. And I rarely talk about sound in anime.
But it it so strong in this anime. Everything could be playing out normally, but BANG, the robot hits something and the sound just resonates across the screen.
But because of that, I can't turn the volume up too high because these SE are even louder.
Anyways, a great watch. I usually don't prefer watching robot anime and really only started watching this because my friend suggested it (and the author), but boy was it worth the time.
