So I went to see this yesterday. My Japanese isn't bad, so I could understand a good percentage of it, but a lot of the vocabulary used was completely beyond me as it goes in a direction completely new to Eureka Seven.
Just going to start off by saying that, just like Rebuild Eva, the end of movie preview from HI 1 is a load of shit.
Spoilers coming obviously.
So Anemone has two names. Anemone and Fuuka, as she's half Japanese and half non specific country that her mother (never revealed) is from. Father gets sent to a war.
Skip to current day Anemone. Father never came back. Anemone is a part of a group called Eureka Seven, a unit specifically created to curb the scub from growing too much. When the scub detects danger approaching, it despatches 'Nirvash' to defend the scub. This time, it despatches a humanoid Nirvash, the one you see in the trailer, and it fucks shit up.
An AI companion application, dubbed 'Dominic', helps Anemone suggest how to proceed and she suggests that to the team. They make their way to a weapon which accidentally caused millions of deaths by accident a few years prior.
Arrive at the weapon, Anemone is strapped to the seat and puts on her head gear. Apparently she's going to be forced into the scub as an 'avatar' and she needs to determine the source of the attack from the inside. Door appears in front of her, she's told to enter and she falls through crazy colours until she emerges into the original anime world (the screen shifts from its regular aspect ratio to 4:3 at this point) and she snaps into place inside The End with Dominic inside. Anemone freaks out but is comforted by his existence as he shouldn't be there, he's just an AI app character, but the team watching her progress on the screen who is watching her in this world are in melt down wondering what the fuck he is doing there and is debated whether or not this should be reported immediately to there superiors. (1/2)
Dominic points out Nirvash and instructs her that if she defeats it, she'll stop the Nirvash in the real world. Nostalgic battle, The End's claw rips into the cockpit, Eureka flies out and screams "Renton!". Anemone returns back, HUMANITIES FIRST VICTORY AGAINST THE SCUB (sounded real Attack on Titan). Nirvash X stops attacking, returns back to the scub by this weird rainbow light effect.
I really can't be bothered to type all this shit up, but I think that intro is really important to understand that there's something very very different about this movie.
Optional stuff to read (that may have been misunderstood)
-Anemone meets Greg Bear to discuss her theories about the world in there is not virtual/imagination, he proceeds by introducing her to a wheel chair bound, locked up, legless (literally just fades out as if they are in some other dimension) Dewey Novac
-Talks the he is from that world in there and it's not a fake. Barely understood as he talks like a rabid old man. Something is going to happen if the scub is too threatened. Also warned to 'be careful of Renton'
-The worlds in the scub are all revealed to the originating from Eureka.
-Father is revealed to have failed and died attempting to stop the scub inside that world, resulting in the deaths of so many in the real world.
-Anemone gets shown her fathers death in that world, about to go fuck child Eureka's shit up in a fight with her one on one no robots, when Eureka goes batshit crazy (she has literally gone insane), revealing that everything she's seen in this world are her dreams. Every time Anemone succeeded, all she's been doing has been waking Eureka up from dreaming. Dreams of a life Renton is still alive with her. In her original world, she accidentally killed Renton. Scenes from every series, sub story, the manga, the movies flood the screen. They've all been Eureka's attempts of creating a permanent reality she can be back with Renton.
