Watched Ep1 and... well... its quite disappointing...
Animation : BAD
The show has some really good moments but these are just moments were the animation seems to be realistic. These moments are short lived as afterwards it quickly returns to the neck twisting animation. It's quite interesting how characters in the show seem to be able to twist even shadows when they move their heads. (or maybe I should say : when they twist their heads)
One thing that is very wrong IMO is the way they decided to animate the characters. Instead of a story oriented exterior perspective of standard anime, this... uhh... show, uses the more realistic (but disturbing and somewhat sick) approach of portraying the characters from the inside out. Hence like wao mentioned earlier : joints are visible (however I dont really see that as cool), besides that, internal organs and other disturbing elements. Some people might like it, I personally do not.
The animation in general looks "cheap". To me the characters just look like stick-men with colored paper on top. the background is annoying as well, it generally hand drawn childish garbage. Basically what you see in abstract art were the artist tries to discard perspective by drawing stupid lines. (discarding perspective is a cheap trick to draw attention, IMO) Because the background lacks a good perspective the characters seem like they're flat, of course that could also be due to the fact they are drawn like big lumps of color (like in an abstract work)
Story : Cheap and somewhat Good here and there
It seems to focus on the old idea of the unsung-hero. It's nothing original, but it does feel like it has some value. That being said, there are a lot of elements that are really stupid. For example : we have giant teddy bear-monsters on the enemy side, we have mecha teddy bear-terminators and old cyborg samurai-geezers in the good guys camp (and they're suppose to be traditional, and it's also suppose to happen in our timeline... lol)
IMO what they are doing is killing both the seriousness and the humor at the same time, since both element appear to want to be in the same scene at the same time, quite ridiculous.
The only thing that I find interesting is the fact that the show seems to have absolutely no story. The man-eaters and love thing just look like some background story. Its fascinating and interesting but ends up being really boring in some scenes.
Like the animators the writers seem to be obsessed with internal organs. I personally don't even want to know what some of those disgusting scenes were suppose to mean. The plot flows randomly IMO, it might be the animators or the directors fault but it just seems wrong sometimes, like when the monkey pwns the 2 idiots. Technically what the writers did was mix hot air with cold air in the hopes of ending up with something special. And in my eyes they totally failed.
Because of the nature of the show I suspect that the characters will "evolve" only throw disgusting plot devices.
Verdict : Cheap PORN (like there is any other kind )
Oh yeah this is a japanese copy of cartoons... not an anime...

Well... with the way I feel about it, the words to describe it is not "experimental animation"... more like "unique garbage"... worthless $hit that has a price on it... of course I'm exaggerating a little (but that's just because the story makes it look good here and there)
I know there are people who enjoy it… but I personally find no pleasure in watching how fuked up they can draw the characters.
