I wasn't disappointed at all by the last episode. Like also stated by the other readers here, I found it to be really satisfying and while I wouldn't have chosen the word "art", I guess it can be described as such.
However, it is also much more, and has certain hidden depths. I really found it so funny that the episode basically slapped all you theory makers in the face by not giving clear answers. Yet it didn't really rule out all your suggestions either.
As I outlined in my post #1943, I think there is a specific significance to "Aaeru", - obviously she is the main character, but the word is also forming a chain throughout the series, at least in regards to the one conflict party.
And the greatest thing altogether (while it might be disappointing for certain Yuri fanboys
) was that nothing "sexual" ever happened between Neville and Aaeru. After the Wall Kiss in the prison cell, they never touched each other again. Even the Simoun was started for them in the previous episode.
