On top of what everyone else has suggested, you could also create/insert a pure white frame, tween to that, set a .20 or .15 frame delay on the white frame and then tween to the first frame. Like so:
That will give the the oppisote of a "kiss to black".
It does add frames though, making the overall GIF fatter. You can tweak the duration of the white flash as well and add the border (I left it off for my Demo).
