If I remember right, Ilya's past was pretty much cleared up by the end of Fate/stay night, but it wasn't until hollow ataraxia did they go into the details, such as Ilya's thoughts on Kiritsugu (her blood father), as well as her maids' functions in the case where Ilya becomes the grail, etc.
I don't remember Ilya's actual age (it might have been mentioned), only that she was born a few years before Shirou, which technically makes her his older sister (though with no blood relationship).
I think Ilya learned to drive during this period (in Fate/stay night, she drove Shirou in her Mercedes Benz 300SL coupe
). Apparently, the Mercedes was used quite frequently during the 4th war. ^^;
