-Actually what Kakuzu did was probably the most logical game plan when faced with a close-range combatant like Naruto. He knew he would try to distract him again so he went for a quick and easy finish thus eliminating the biggest threat. However, Kakuzu had 2 major faults at that point:
1) He got too greedy since he was the one that went on the attack. Typically a long range combatant waits wor the enemy's movement and then stops it before they reach them but he instead went after him.
2) He underestimated Naruto completely which makes sense considering he had absolutely no information on how he fights. He though he had him figured out after his failed attempt and it cost him at least 2 lives.

ShurikenJay Kakuzu lost both his Katon and Fuuton hearts thanks to Naruto's jutsu. The reason for this is because you can clearly see the Lion mask get crushed (it's teeth are a dead giveaway) but if you look closely you'll se that the Eagle mask is crushed as well but it's front is turned.
