Shitennou Uduki vs Yoshino Sakura
I may have an idea to explain the similarity for Shitennou Uduki from "Happy Lesson" and Yoshino Sakura from "D.C."

The former's original artist is a done by a female illustrator named "Sasaki Mutsumi."
The latter's original artist is done by a female illustrator named "Nanao Naru."

They happen to be best friends, and when you buy their doujinshi illustration books, you'll find each of their art on each other's doujinshis as a "guest illustrator."

So, the similarity may stem from their friendship in sharing each other's arts.

Sakuraba Aoi vs. Ciel
Interesting. Though come to think of it, they do look similar, but rest assured, they are not.

The manga artist for "Ai Yori Aoshi" is done by Fumizuki Kou. He debuted in Wani Book's "Suki to wa Iwanai" in 1995. His art style hasn't changed much since.

The original artist for Ciel in "Tsukihime" is done by artist Takeuchi Takashi. In one of TYPE-MOON's "self-interviews," he says that the origins of Ciel actually stems from one of his earlier original doujinshi - "Valkyre." In the beta version of Ciel, she actually had longer hair. It was decided upon in the meeting while making "Tsukihime" doujin game, that Ciel should be "plain and boring looking" ^^; So, he cut off her hair.

Oruchuban Ebichu vs. Tottoko Hamtaro
Ebichu came first. It was (and still is) serialized as yon-coma manga on a the Pizzaz! Magazine.

It was fairly popular to Japanese OLs at the time (1997) as it dealt with a black-humor of a cute furry hamster within a sex-life of a typical Japanese office worker. It was created by manga artist, Ito Risa, and released by publisher - Futabasha.

It's popularity was found to be marketable as a cute furry creature to little kids as well. However, you don't want little kids reading stuff about sexual lives. Henceforth, you have "Tottoko Hamtaro." Released by publisher - Shougakukan, and done by artist Kawai Ritsuko.
