After checking most of the characters created so far, I see we are missing some antagonists. So here I go with my newest project. Yes, project, as I have here five new characters.

No matter. They are still my clients and this will prove to be quite the opportunity to test my newest creations. They are paying well, after all... Huh? Who is it?

Green-haired Woman: Doctor, here are the five chosen subjects for the next experiment.
Scaglietti: Ah, let me see them...

Scaglietti: Hmm, again four girls and one boy.
Woman: Yes, I think we can safely assume from now on that girls have better compatibilities with Relics. Here is the first one.

Real Name: Iris (Last Name unknown)
Gender: Female

Origin: 56th Non-Administrative World

Woman: This girl has excellent potential with Relic #24.
Scaglietti: Which Relic is this?
Woman: It is a wind elemental Relic. It was found a couple of years ago lifting a whole city in Unidentified Planet #12. We assume that the Relic can also control gravity, but all tests in that matter have failed so far.
Scaglietti: 87% is a good percentage. Lets see the next one.

Woman: Yes, we were also surprised.
Scaglietti: One of the most unstable Relics we have found so far... one that is said to contain a living creature. Rhadamanthys, the "Judge of the Underworld"... how fitting. This will certainly be interesting to see.

Scaglietti: No wonder this boy made it out of the Relic compatibility tests.
Woman: Yes. He was specifically created to be compatible with Relic #15.
Scaglietti: Ah, I remember now. An earth elemental Relic with the enough power to shake an entire continent... But 88%? Is that the best he could have done?
Woman: Our tests do not go much further. Only once have we attained 90% compatibility. What are more interesting are his high compatibilities with other Relics as well.
Scaglietti: Hmhmhm... This is most exciting. In the future I'll definitely have to try to fuse two Relics.
Woman: But Dr.! Such thing would be too dangero--
Scaglietti: Don't worry, I know the risks. Continue.
*The woman calms down a bit... and continues*

Woman: Our client specifically wanted to use these five kids, so we have no other choice. Moreover, they wanted a well-rounded group so they could control Land, Sea, and Air.
Scaglietti: I don't like it very much, but proceed.

Real Name: Sarah Alicia Lushien
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Origin: Mid-Childa
- Found when she was 4 years old. Raised in Research Facility #34

Scaglietti: 96%?! That's incredible.
Woman: This is the highest compatibility level we have ever reached. And the results are constant.
Scaglietti: She can probably be as powerful as Lutecia. What are the specs of Relic #60?
Woman: So far our tests have not uncovered any abnormal powers or capabilities... Only that...
Scaglietti: Only what?
Woman: Apparently this Relic has unlimited energy... In theory, if it acts as a Linker Core, the user would never run out of stamina.
Scaglietti: An unlimited source of energy... Why havent it been used as a power source for our experiments?
Woman: While we have run various tests, we still cannot find a way to extract and use its power.
Scaglietti: Well, that's not surprising. Anyway, lets proceed as planned.
Woman: Understood.

…Gwendolyn, huh? I am must lucky. I will be able to see her growth alongside Lutecia's.

Episode 01: The Beginning – Part 2: The First Strike

*Near Yokera Corp.’s secret weapons trading encampment.


Natalia: Wow, the TSAB sure is serious. They even brought a floating battleship.
Iris: Flying! Not floating...
Natalia: That's the same thing!
Iris: You make it sound so cheesy...
Rhea: And what is this weird encampment?
Gwendolyn: This is one of Yokera’s primary trading routes. No wonder why they asked us to defend it.
Natalia: Bleh, I don’t like this desert already… there is…sand…*bleh* all over the place…
Ashelyn: Ahaha~ I think this place is fun~
Rhea: Yeah, first time we come to a place like this.
Iris: Alright, let’s get this over with. I’ll take care of the flying battleship.
Gwendolyn: OK. Rhea, can I count on you to disable their land forces?
Rhea: Leave it to me!
Gwendolyn: Thank you. *kind smile*
Rhea: *blushes* N-no need to thank me, Gwendolyn-san.
Gwendolyn: Ashelyn and Lily, please support Rhea. I will go with Iris.
Ashelyn: OK!
Natalia: Ack! I told you not to call me Lily!
Gwendolyn: *giggles* Don’t go on your own this time, Natalia.
Natalia: … Do you still not trust me?
Gwendolyn: That’s not it. I trust every one of you the same. I just don’t think your powers will be needed in this battle. …Your Relic is the most powerful of our five, but also one that has yet to be controlled by anyone. I believe you can—no, I know you can master it. But you have to be patient.
Natalia: …
Ashelyn: Don’t worry, Gwen-chan! I will keep an eye on Lily. *giggles while looking at Natalia*
Natalia: *mad* *grabs Ashelyn and starts tickling her*
Ashelyn: Aah~ Let me go!
Gwendolyn: OK, let’s go, everyone!

Natalia: Iris… come here.
Iris: Hm?
Natalia: *whispers* Don’t let Gwendolyn kill anyone, OK?
Iris: *smiles* Yeah. Don’t worry, I will kill them all before they get to her. And you do the same with Ashelyn.
Natalia: Of course. Rhea, you, and I are all we need to finish the job.

Gwendolyn: Hey, we will leave you two behind!
Natalia: Ah! We’re coming.

The TSAB was indeed serious about shutting down the encampment. Their ground forces were numerous, with tanks, mobile artillery and ground mages. And the air support included a flying battleship of great proportions. While they would have easily accomplished their goals, they did not predict the impossible.

Iris: That battleship is huge. It must be their mobile headquarters.
Gwendolyn: Yes. If we disable it, the battle will be over.
Iris: Gwen, stand back a little.
Gwendolyn: Alright. Do you want a power enchantment?
Iris: No, I want to do this myself.

Iris closes her eyes and a greatly deformed Mid-Childan-like blue magic circle was summoned beneath her feet. As she opens her eyes, Iris extends her right arm and points at the huge battleship in front of her. And only with her pure will power, the atmospheric pressure of the area around the battleship started going up exponentially.

Flight command 1: Commander! Something is not right. The atmospheric pressure is rising... and fast! We’re losing altitude!
Flight command 2: We’re also losing control of the ship!
Commander: What is going on? …Ugh--!

With her eyes now glowing navy blue, she slowly moves her right arm downwards. With just a simple movement of her arm, the air around the ship unconditionally moved in the desired direction. Because of the sudden change in air pressure, a couple of tornados were formed in the vicinity.

Iris: J-just a bit more… It’s too big; I will have to increase the pressure…
Gwendolyn: Don’t push yourself too hard or—

At that moment, Iris lost some of the control over the tremendous power she was trying to command. The sudden fluctuation of pressure in the area around the ship caused an electro-magnetic explosion that disabled the ship and all the mobile vehicles in the area.

Iris: A—Ahh~! Damn you... I will... control you...
Gwendolyn: Leucosia!
Leucosia: Enchanter Field: Magic Limiter

This time a perfect Mid-Childan magic circle was summoned. This time, it was white. Gwendolyn imbues Iris with a magic field that limited the output of the relic’s power. Thanks to Gwendolyn's incredible amount of energy and magic control, her enchantment was able to stop Iris' magic outburst.

Leucosia: Enchanter Field: Magic Control

Because of Gwendolyn’s apparently unlimited source of energy, she is able to sustain more than one field enchantment at the same time.

Iris: *pants pants*
Gwendolyn: Are you OK?
Iris: Y-yes, thank you. I'm in control now.
Gwendolyn: *giggles* You almost had it. Next time I'm sure you will do a lot better.
Iris: ...
Gwendolyn: What is it?
Iris: ...I just keep thinking... If it wasn’t for you, we would all be dead by now.
Gwendolyn: ...

As Gwendolyn was lost in thought, a very powerful earthquake erupted. The earthquake opened a huge crater below the ground force’s tanks and mobile artillery, disabling most of them.

Iris: I see Rhea did not have any trouble over there.
Gwendolyn: Yeah...
Iris: Gwen.
Gwendolyn: Hm?
Iris: Thank you.
Gwendolyn: *blushes* F-For what?
Iris: *smiles* For looking out for us. But let me tell you one thing.
Gwendolyn: ...
Iris: We won’t let these relics control us. We won’t die. Trust us.
Gwendolyn: B-but... I do!
Iris: We all may not have anywhere to go, anything to look for, or any place we can call home, but... *looks at Gwendolyn*
Gwendolyn: ...
Iris: We have someone to go back to. *smiles*
Gwendolyn: ...

Tears stared to roll down. Tears of relief, as she now knows that her new powers can be useful to those she cares for. Tears of joy, as she is finally part of something special.

Gwendolyn blushed and tried to hold the tears up.

Iris: *smiles* Come; let’s get out of here before they find us.
Gwendolyn: ... Uh-huh...

The five reunited after a successful mission. They were then sent back to Research Facility #34 in Mid-Childa, where Dr. Scaglietti was waiting to check out the newest results.

Episode 01: The Beginning – Part 3: A Step Forward

*Inside secret Research Facility #34

Natalia: *pants pants*

Iris: Hey, Lily, you’re still trying to pull that off?
Natalia: Iris, Ashelyn… Hm! Shut up, Iris. I know this can be done.
Ashelyn: Your Relic is still unstable… maybe you should rest a little before—
Natalia: *pats Ashelyn on the head with a smile and giggles* You sure worry too much. But don’t; I will control this thing no matter what.
Ashelyn: *blushes* Ah! Those wounds… let me take care of them.
Natalia: … Ok… Say, where are Gwendolyn and Rhea?
Iris: Scaglietti asked Gwen to go see him personally. Apparently something happened.
Natalia: I see. Soon we will leave this place and we will be used as weapons again, huh?
Iris: …
Ashelyn: …
Natalia: Oh well, at least its better than staying inside those damn tubes.
Gwendolyn: We won’t be used as weapons anymore.
Everyone: Gwen!

Gwendolyn: …And that is the situation.
Iris: Heh. That Administration Bureau is not as ignorant as I thought.
Natalia: Idiot, you thought they wouldn’t notice? That company—eh—what was the name… Joker?—well, doesn’t matter anymore… That company has been gathering all kinds of weapons and spaceships for the last few years. They even had enough wealth to hire us!
Gwendolyn: Their mistake was to try and smuggle those Relics here in Mid-Childa. I heard the TSAB now has a special unit dedicated to track down Relics.
Iris: That’s very interesting. I wonder what kind of mages they have.
Rhea: No matter who they have, they are no match for us.
Natalia: Heheh. When we fight them we will kno—Wait. What’s our new mission anyway?
Gwendolyn: *smiles* We won’t have any more missions.
Ashelyn: … What will we do now then?
Rhea: The Dr. told us that we can leave the facility and do whatever we want!
Natalia: What? That sounds way too suspicious. What did he create us for then?
Gwendolyn: His only objective is to research and study our growth.
Iris: Heh. That dirty old man.
Ashelyn: We are… free… then?
Gwendolyn: Lutecia went out to search for something important to her. Do any of you have something you would like to do?

As they looked at each other, they noticed how similar they were. They had nothing outside the facility walls. They only had themselves.

Ashelyn: I… I just don’t want to be separated from you all.
Rhea: I have nowhere else to go… since I was created here…
Natalia: Rhea! We told you not to talk like that!
Ashelyn: Yeah! It doesn’t matter if you were created; you’re still a living person like any of us!
Rhea: … Sorry.
Iris: Gwen, how about you, I can tell you have something in mind.
Gwendolyn: Well, yes. I am going to hunt down all the Relics I can.
Iris: Relics? Why would you need those?
Gwendolyn: I made a pact with Dr. Scaglietti. If I bring him a Relic, he will use it on another of our friends, and free them.
Natalia: Wait, why don’t we just destroy this damn facility and save everyone?
Gwendolyn: Their bodies will not survive outside of those capsules for long.
Ashelyn: But the process can go wrong and they could die! We are very lucky to still be alive.
Rhea: … I heard from some of the people here… that they would rather die than stay inside those capsules…
Gwendolyn: …
Ashelyn: …
Natalia: …
Iris: …
Natalia: Then, it’s settled. Let’s do this.
Gwendolyn: Wait, you don’t have to do this. It is very risky. We will most likely have to fight against the TSAB!
Natalia: What are you talking about; we are friends, aren’t we?
Rhea: I will follow you anywhere you go!
Ashelyn: Yes! Let’s go together!
Iris: I guess we have no other choice but to follow you, then. You can’t possibly fight against the TSAB alone.
Gwendolyn: You guys…
