The stillbirth of Kirika's daughter may actually be the First Cause of Yomiyama's phenomenon. Think about it: There is a death in the family. A grieving mother is unable to let go off her grief. Her twin sister decides to let her adopt one of her own twin daughters, in effect, to replace one that should have been "let go" of from the start.
As a result, when the time came, it was Misaki Fujioka who paid the price of being the "extra" in Mei's immediate family.
As is clear by now, killing the "extra" of one year doesn't end the phenomenon for good. It didn't, 15 years ago. At best, it stops the deaths for only the rest of the year, due to the re-establishment of the natural order.
But what if the true origin of the phenomenon lies not in Class 3-3, but in a creepy basement somewhere in Yomiyama, where one lonely, bitter woman, still refuses to let go of the past...?

But the curse started long before that ....
It would be kinda dumb that curse started few years before stillbirth and then the bitter mother would become a curse reason, again ...
