Something that I was thinking about, reading Apache, Ed Macy's memoir of his 2nd Afghan tour with No. 656 Squadron. What does a TSF pilot's survival gear consist of? Because it doesn't seem like much...

Macy writes that in his Apache, his main survival gear was stored in a rucksack under his seat, and consisted of several hundred rounds of 5.56mm ammo (in magazines), several mags of 9mm pistol ammo for the Browning Hi-Power, grenades (strictly non-regulation for safety reasons), medical supplies, water and MREs, and he had an L22A1 carbine (carbine variant of L85A2 rifle) in a storage rack beside his leg, in easy reach. The nose portion of the Apache would also carry a duffel bag containing tent and more water, food and ammo, though Macy's preferred load was to reduce food for more ammo.

Contrast that to poor Yui, who only had a pistol in her Zuikaku...

...on the other hand most TSF pilots have a tendancy to get NOMMED before they have a chance to eject
