The anime mess up a bit with the manga, but can't be helped I guess. In fact, I think it's a good way to begin wrapping everything up in light of the impending conclusion. I think their showing of Tomoe and the black stripes on his body opened up more than wrapping things up because that part in the manga is the start of another major arc. If they truly considered wrapping this all up neatly, they should leave that part out. Maybe they're playing it safe, so that they could go with a second season if they decide to, which I'm still hoping for!
...and I feel sorry for Mizuki being the fodder for Kurama and Tomoe.
...and I also want to know what's behind the masks of those Onikiri yokai familiars but gauging Tomoe's reaction of what he saw...it may not be good.
