Well okay I said my piece so moving on: Sheryl's illness
Personally I think they will find a cure (and the Vajra or Ranka will be the key). It's a common ploy in storytelling to introduce something with no answer (such as an incurable disease) only to find that answer in the end. At this point it wouldn't be surprising if Sheryl dies because we expect her to based on everything that has been said in the story. The surprise will come when they find the cure.
