AMS Mekatronic has developed a standing wheelchair they call the
Tek Robotic Mobilization Device, which aims to do to the standard wheelchair what the automobile did to the horse-drawn buggy. If it works half as well as it looks, it could really improve the quality of life for a lot of people.
That is, if they can afford it. I have no idea how much one of these would cost, but I would imagine it would be pretty expensive.
