It's gonna be Kyon--the TRUTH--all the way. Without his cynical sarcastic wit, the appreciation of Haruhi herself would have declined. He's the most well-rounded and developed character, which makes sense; the series comes mostly from his perspective. Oh, man, I remember watching episode one without having looked up any info on it. It was really bizarre, but I knew as soon as the narration started it was an amateur movie, and Kyon's narration helped me get through it.

He's brilliant, I tell you. I haven't enjoyed a male lead in anime so much since Jinto from the Seikai series, and that's a tough act to follow.

All the characters in this series are quite likeable, but the magic wouldn't be there if Kyon weren't there every step of the way. He's the Minnesota Miracle Man, you know.
