Actually Haruto didnt pursue girls that went after him if he didnt think he liked them. Utsumi didnt do it in this example either, but if he thought he liked her started an releationship and then ended up realizing the opposite - Utsu just do not have enough balls to deal with it, he would be crawling all back to her because of his consciousness. Hell he even had hard time of denying Risa though he was pretty sure he didnt like her to begin with.
Utsumi is a doormat. Haruto is hardly that really. You may like him, you may not, and he is dumb enough to deserve that, but he is not a big vagina like Utsumi.
And that he is ready to crawl after Yuki again doenst make him better. If anything it only makes him look more pathetic and desperate.
If it happens once, that I can understand - as he just swallows his pride to save something more important to him (even though he is not a fault) and that looks like self-sacrifice, but doing this so many times just reeks of having no self-respect whatsoever. Thats not salf-sacrifice anymore but just plainly being a doormat.
