Out of all anime I think that Macross has one of the best developed love relationship. The relationships are gradual instead of being rushed, well I suppose with the exception of DYRL, which was understandable as it was a movie. The other thing that I like about love triangle in Macross is that the relations are solved by the end (
Blasphemy!), expect with Macross 7.
