It so happens that I beat the PS2 Tales of the Abyss game just today, right before I watched the final episode.

With that, I had to say the game's ending was infinitely superior, though that opinion might be due to some strong lingering feelings relating to everything that happened in the game, the anime's final battle was just too short. I was also really hoping to see the "what's going on with everybody" ending sequence, as well as seeing Luke and Tear becoming an actual couple with Luke returning, was rather disappointed at seeing the Luke/Asch merged return but overall I thought this was a decent anime adaptation and very enjoyable to watch. Now if only they'd do some OVAs for Nebilim's Crag and some other epic places in the game, that would be divine.
