bringing Nanamine back for a rematch and revealing a bit more of his backstory. Since the anime not only showed his childhood flashback ahead of time but also cut the part where he told Ashirogi he'd come up with a new method and challenge them again, I guess the writing was on the wall.

Now I'm looking forward to seeing how the last arcs will play out in the anime.

they would have left Nanamine completely out of the anime. The first arc was barely tolerable. The Shinjitsu Corp arc was not. The only thing that I will miss is not having the old authors show up in the anime.
