Actually that's a bit of a lie, since I haven't seen it yet (not that I'm not burning to, of course). But the screencaps sure make it look as if it'll live up to expectations, and the reaction in the 2chan thread was definitely wild enough to make me anticipate it.

Oh it definitely lived up to expectations, and then some. I would say that this is the best episode of Death Note so far, especially if you've read the manga.
