Mascot what?

mascot n. a person or animal that is adopted by a team or other group as a symbolic figure

You've all seen them, even if you don't realise it. Characters, designed to represent and symbolise "something", from a whole host of sports teams to AniPike's "Trixie Turnpike", companies, boats, planes and even Operating Systems!

Having seen the OS-tans used in one of the banner contest, way back when, we started thinking about how cool it would be to have a mascot of our very own. Who or what would it be? What would it look like? How could we use it?

This is where you and this contest come in. Given all the wonderful things you lot posted in the Fan Creation forum and in the banner contests we've run; we thought: Why not ask our members to design a mascot!

The Brief

To name, design, develop and demonstrate a character that can be used to represent AnimeSuki. While the aim sounds simple it will require quite a bit of effort on the part of those entering, and something extra special if you want to win.

It can be anything you like: animal, mineral, vegetable or inanimate kitchen appliance -- whatever grabs your imagination. Just so long as it is original, represents AnimeSuki in some way and doesn't break our rules.

Once you have an idea, we would like you to develop it. The more views or different poses you can make the better, you probably want to do at least three. Anything that will help us see your "vision", basically. Once you have a character we would like you to produce some demonstration works (pictures, logos, banners, etc.) that contain the character.

The Rules

• All current members of the forum are eligible to enter.
  Note: No member of staff may enter this contest.
• Each member may submit ONE (1) entry; either individually or as part of a group.
  Note: Any prize awarded to a group, as a result of this contest, will be divided equally among all the members of that group.
• A member CANNOT be in more than ONE (1) group.
• A group SHOULD NOT contain more than THREE (3) members.
• Entries MUST abide by the forum rules.
  Note: We may disqualify any entry deemed to be offensive or inappropriate.
• To be valid a submission MUST be posted ONCE ONLY in the "Submission Thread" before the closing date.
• Submissions must include all information requested (see the entry form below) in an acceptable format.
• Entries MAY keep with AnimeSuki's current "style" but are NOT required to.
• Each entry MUST contain ONLY original work, created by the members named on the submission form and ONLY by those listed on the submission form.
• By submitting content (images, text, etc) to the contest, each member agrees that AnimeSuki has unrestricted rights to use the content, including the right to create derived works.
  Note: We might want to make minor changes to the stuff we use.
• We do NOT guarantee that any part of the winning entry will be used nor do we guarantee that any part of any other entry will NOT be used.
  Note: We might mix and match or use the bests bits from a selection of entries.
• The contest is not the final word on which Mascot we will use and it may be run again/re-opened at the discretion of the Forum and Site Staff.
  Note: We may decide that NO entry was worthy of winning the right to be our mascot.
• All decisions made by the Forum and Site Staff with regard to the contest are final.
• GHDpro will have the final say in all matters concerning this contest, as AnimeSuki is his site .

The Prizes

• Winning entries will be used all over the site and forum.
  Note: Winners may be asked to produce further renderings of their characters.
• The overall second and third place entries will get each get $75 USD.
• The overall first place entry will get a grand prize of $150 USD

What happens next?

Firstly, fear not: I have all the entries that were submitted on time. I probably won't be posting them here just yet though.

With regard to the two late entries; I'll give you a little while to PM them to me.
