Seems like the volume cover, not the artbox.
Not sure If I like the cover (seems like little more than a cheap, five-minute foray in photoshop with the R2 cover), but it does get the point across that this is not just school-and-summertime fluff. Also, the picture's very small, but did they remove 'Higurashi' from the title? If so, good call.
