Joseph's bad behavior reminds me about young Speedwagon. Speedwagon grew up in a bad neighborhood. He might knew Dio as an old neighbor. He was terrible person as Dio, but he disliked Dio. As a bad guy, he valued the comradeship. Even Jonathan punched him, he helped Jonathan out of respect. Joseph resembled Speedwagon in that manner. That's why he decides to help a guy who stole his wallet.
The first episode is called "Fighting Waves". Which mean more conflicts are coming to Joseph as waves.
