That and you can only use a baseball stadium to play....baseball and softball. At least a large Olympic stadium can be easily converted to play track-and-field events and soccer games, a swimming stadium for multiple swimming events, but a baseball stadium is....just a baseball stadium. I guess money was a factor as well. Why would a country have to spend millions erecting a baseball stadium that can't be used for anything else once the Olympics are over? Deny it as you may, baseball isn't that popular in many nations compared to soccer.
