If you read Volume 2, it's stated clearly that Yuri was on a trip in Europe two years ago when she was captured by Voban for a ritual to summon a Heretic God (but then Salvatore comes along and steals the kill). That was also the event that Liliana remembers Yuri from (though Yuri doesn't remember Liliana, unlike in the anime).
