If you pay attention to the BGM that starts as they show the flashback, you should be able to figure out easily on what is going on. Kanon's BGMs are very useful in revealing the links between the clues and the answers. See the OP if you want to know more.

For those still interested, the BGM that started as Yuuichi flashbacked to the Bunnygirl, remained as the BGM throughout the titlescreen and the scene where Yuuichi met Mai for lunch.

Ergo, it acted as a link/thread connecting the Bunnygirl to Mai.
