Well, this is not related to GC and is going to have heavy spoilers for Dune, so I'm going to contiune under spoiler tags. First of all, my apologizes if sometimes I'm hard to understand: I'm not a native english speaker and I read Dune into spanish.
Spoiler for Dune - GC comparison:
At first I was like "OK, being the bad dude to his people, a tyrant, but becouse a good reason: the survival and all that. That's pretty much like Dune, but I don't think they're going to do a Leto with Shu..." Why this anime is reminding me of Dune? "Oh, well, it can't be helped, can't it? It's about the power to rule destiny of humankind, accepting the guilt of this power, there are posessions or something, there's a messianic archetype and a young throw to all that mess because of a family that suks. It sure remindes me a little Dune". Haruka, too, kind of reminded me of Jessica.
Then I thought deeper "But the whole messiah thing was more with Paul, actually. Hmmm... Fremen and the people from Arrakis overall made a messiah of Paul. And even if he waned to play that role in Dune, he pretty much hated it later on, iirc". And then Shu embraced the kings void again, in episode 19, even if that could kill him, accepting his power. Once again it reminded me of Dune. Sure, Shu denied his power, at the begining. Since the second half. even if he hated his role in the story, he still played it the best he could. And when he lost that power, he was willed to get it again, even if that could hurt him (Paul was warned about his blindness by the navigators from the guild, iirc). And it happened episode 21, and then I realized Paul's whole life was meant to be controled by the Bene Gesserit and was going to be married with that imperial princess but he finally screw with all of them. And Shu's life was going to be controled in order to marry Mana, but he screws that and tries to save and stay with Inori. And...
It's confusing, but in short, I saw a bunch of features of Paul Atreides on Shu, and saw some resemblances of the Kwisatz-whatever matter in the power of the King, and some of the Golden Path of Leto in the Guillty Crown - Apocalypse with Mana as Eve theme. So I guessed that, maybe, they were going to make an end that somehow reminded me of Paul's end. I was thinking more in Dune, with the final fight between Paul and that Harkonnen who was his cousin, but anyways.
But I must say I read Dune books like 8-9 years ago, so maybe I'm confusing events and characters
Ok, Japan. If you're thinking on doing something inspired in a work of Asimov, PLEASE, DON'T. Thanks
. Back in the past, I wished for I.G. adapting the Foundation series. But now... I think I'm going to pass
