Didn't look like pretending to me. He was not "using the ceremony" to his advantage, his idea was only to get her to drink the drugged wine, the marriage idea was Louise's idea. And I'm pretty sure he knows how she feels, she did try to tell him, and she did say "my true feelings for Saito." Its not her fault she fell asleep before she was able to admit them.
