Yeah I think it was a good call to use that piece. Think Fairy Tail has had some nice music overall and at times like this they can really pick the right music for the moment.
Also think this is probably one of the best OP/ED combinations that they've had all series. A lot of times they have been hit or miss with some ED's being outright terrible for setting the mood at the end of an episode.
