Kirin stands ready at the starting point. Her IS’ Orm shield now mounted on the left arm while she draws out the Durandal, a tri-barreled rifle which materializes in the grip of her right hand.
“Stand ready!” commands Kaori while the rest of her students are seated on the spectators’ stand. A big hologram of a stopwatch timer hovers near the top the arena’s dome displaying the word “Ready” on the bottom.
Through her crystal visor, Kirin eyes each of the targets with her retinal-controlled reticule and the IS begins to calculate a path for her by planting on-screen waypoints as a guide.
“On my mark! Three…!”
Watching from the edge of her seat, Tsurugi clenches her fist on her thighs.
“Two…!”
With her arms folded across her chest, Lingyin switches her attention between Kirin and the hovering hologram timer.
“One…!”
*tii—tiitiit—* the Durandal rifle’s barrels spin and locks into position.
“…Mark!”
*tii—tiiiit—!* the hologram timer starts counting and Kirin boosts off towards the first group of floating targets.
“Approaching target…”
*tiit—*
She squeezes the trigger and the rifle’s barrels spin again, firing medium-sized bolts of particle beam as she sweeps the weapon across the front, hitting all four targets simultaneously. More targets enter her attack range in an arch-shaped arrangement. The targets are spaced a fair distance apart from each other and Kirin switches to controlled burst-fire.
*KRRZII-ZI-ZI-ZIING—ZI-ZI-ZIING—ZI-ZI-ZIING—* *PRAA-PA—PA—PA-PA!*
The targets pop like balloons on hit leaving bits of digital sparks dissipating into thin air.
“Next…!”
Her feet hardly touched the ground as she dashes head-on towards another set of targets hovering far apart from each other at different heights.
*KRRZII-ZI-ZI-ZI-ZI-ZI-ZI-ZI-ZI-ZI-ZI-ZIING—*
She spins, sweeping her rifle around and firing at the low targets while she looks up to the ones high above, locking another set of targeting reticules upon them.
*Kzaa—!* a portion of the Falken’s wings’ midsection pops up revealing a pair of cannon tubes with an extending barrel, the IS’ Jaktur cannons. The Jaktur swivels to the side and points up to the high-altitude targets.
*tiit—!* *PASHA-PASHA—*
Both barrels fire concurrently, launching twin large particle beams which consumes all the targets in its path.
“Cool…!”
“Awesome!”
Her classmates cheer at her performance, as does Tsurugi who watches in awe at her roommate swerving around the arena’s perimeter and shooting down every single target she passes by. Lingyin is also amazed by Kirin’s accuracy while also noticing something else about her unit.
‘Small human-sized frame, compact weapons… That unit spells close-combat no matter how you look at it, which means it must also have a—’
“Last target!”
Kirin hunches forward, bearing straight for the lone floating target ahead and aiming the Jaktur cannons at it.
*PA-PASHA—*
The huge particle beams zeros into the target, leaving trails of spiraling, dissipating particles and vaporizes the target upon contact.
*ti-tii—!* the timer stops counting, flashing the run time [00:13:07]

Is this in the next chapter?
And as for the timer at the end, I got kind of mixed up on Kirin's time with how it looks.

At first, I thought it took Kirin 13
minutes to do that run, being a representative cadet. And going by Canon, there's no way a Representative Cadet would take that long. Unless if the run's actually a lot longer.
But then, if the time was actually 13
seconds, it should be set up like this.

Anyway, a new crossover in the archive. This time with Halo.
