I have long thought Kate is good for Kodaka because their personalities are the polar opposites, much like how Yozora and Sena.

Kodaka procrastinates and refuses to connect. He's overly concerned with what his actions will bring to the other people but not able to see the forest through the trees on what's more important. The earliest example of this is even as a child, he held off telling Yozora he's moving despite knowing weeks in advance.

Kate's carefree nature is the antidote to that.

Sena isn't quite the opposite of Kodaka - she's something Kodaka finds scary. She's the flood that sweeps whatever that happens to be in her path.
