Well, it's like instead of taking Kristna's quartz without war but risk having a revolt in the future.... Athen rather has a war now. (and even when they win and execute the royal family, there's still a risk (though lesser) of revolt in the future)
I bet one of their top politicians own a weapon producing factory.
