The March issue of Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine has announced on Wednesday that the Nakagawa Shōko Monogatari (Shoko Nakagawa's Story) manga will launch in the next issue on March 3. Although voice actress/singer Shoko "Shokotan" Nakagawa has drawn her own manga before, Asumi Hara (Saikyō Seito-kai Tsubakiyo) is drawing this biography for Nakagawa. The story will deal with Nakagawa's coming-of-age as she dealt with grade-school bullying and the passing of her father. Nakagawa's father, the popular Japanese actor and singer Katsuhiko Nakagawa (Choriki Robo Galatt, 1985's Toki o Kakeru Shōjo), died when she was only 9 years old.

Nakagawa herself sang theme songs for the Gurren Lagann anime franchise and performed in the Eyeshield 21 anime series. Nakagawa appeared as a musical guest of honor at Anime Expo in Los Angeles in 2008. Her Sukashi Kashipanman character spawned an anime on mobile phone websites, a DVD, a Nintendo DS game, a manga by Arima Honda in Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine, and an official sweet bun in LAWSON convenience stores. It also inspired a live-action project in America with Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel.

The Peach-Pit artist duo will launch their Shugo Chara! Encore! spinoff manga in the next issue of Nakayoshi on March 3 as well. The omnibus-style series will cast a spotlight on a different character in each installment and will be featured on the cover of the magazine's next issue. Peach-Pit ended the main Shugo Chara! magical girl manga in the magazine's February issue in December. Del Rey published the eighth of the 10 current volumes of the Shugo Chara! manga in North America last month.
