They look for every way they can to game the system. These are the guys in Vanilla WoW who rolled the underpopulated faction for faster BG queue times, then afked out of any game that pit them up against another pre-made, while only playing in a pre-made themselves, so they could wrack up as many quick wins over hapless pugs as possible. They're the ones who turned what was once the #1 server in the world to a bottom-feeder in GW2. Who, when faced with even a whiff of adversity, look for an easy way out.
Ha, this part of that post really resonates. These people helped kill my first guild in Vanilla WoW. About half the officers decided they all wanted to be Grand Marshal and formed a little clique within the guild, account traded to play 24/7, afk'd out when they ran into an organized team with known opposing players, used map exploits to guarantee wins while saying it was simply Blizzard's fault for not fixing them, and even win traded with people on the opposing faction who were doing the same thing. And after they got the title and gear they wanted, many of them said they now hated PvP and never wanted to do it again. Forcing themselves to do something they didn't even like just to get some meaningless achievement is something I will never understand, yet it seems like it's a mentality that's becoming increasingly common. It's not about the thrill of competition anymore, it's about farming the best gear so you can say you have the best gear.
