Reading my own posts about this film is hilarious. I play the raving fanboy perfectly. LOL
Seriously though, I do have my reservations and worries about this production. Take for instance the line at the end of the trailer, "When this war is over, I want to be a mother."
One of the nice things about the Appleseed manga is the understated relationship of Deunan (the lead blond woman that kicks ass in the trailer) and Briareos (the cyborg who kicks even more ass). In a slow moment in Vol4 of the manga,
It's the kind of moment that slaps a person in the face when we're reminded of something that we've been putting off thinking about.
The whole scene is thoughtful and subtle, as is much of Shirow's writing. Heck, Shirow very often leaves things unsaid. "I want to be a mother" strikes me as less than subtle. I hope that the rest of the writing isn't like that.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed until I see the film.
