Light novel adaptations seem to be quite run-of-the-mill these days and I'm guessing a lot of people are tired of them.
Here's hoping this series would get a nice studio + staff with a sufficient budget to show off their talents to change that mindset.
Website's open, though the
artist kinda jumped the gun and confirmed that we're getting a TV series adaptation a few days before that!
I haven't had this feel in a while, but I very much want 2-cour of this. Vol 9 is the end of "Part I" of the LNs, so there are definitely enough material for a very conclusive end (I'm ok with troll end with Vol 8 though).
This series in many ways reminded me of Durarara (only using this as point of comparison because this seem to be the most similar series that people actually think is good):
- 1) Significant main characters growth with very badass (though cheesy at times) personalities/abilities.
- 2) Side characters that are infinitely more interesting with ridiculous stylish points on top of that.
- 3) Fujoshi bait materials (debatable point, but Ootomo x Kagami* OTP )
- 4) Awesome developments out of "nowhere".
This has better fights than Durarara in exchange for a more linear (but slightly less interesting) narrative style. Durarara's anime never even got into the interesting parts so here's hoping
it would get a season 2 Tokyo Ravens would go a little bit further in the story. Even though vol 3's good for a 1-cour end, at LEAST to vol 6 would just be orgasmic. I think the manga's nearing end of volume 3 (Chapter 25), so if you're keeping up with that you won't be seeing anything new. No to mention I think it's ... a little bit tamer than I imagine it while reading.
I am not wishing for too much, but
Sunrise with UC's budget with Sawano or Sahashi doing the music and people like FukuJun, Miyukichi, Kaji (gotta have this guy ), Mamo, Sugita, Hayashibara on the cast would just be stellar just a decent adaptation from A1/AIC/BB/WF would be great. With all that said, the other pessimists on 2ch and I think this will turn out horribly~~ So zero expectation, ha!
