Had to look up 栞 (kan) to find its pronunciation, almost tried to read it as 瑟 (se). Try to read the name in Chinese and interpret the sound in Japanese, you'll be surprised.
Imagine she is walking together with a Japanese friend when a Chinese friend passes by and call her name in Mandarin, that will be confusing, no?
