The ALO arc is mostly just save Asuna. You don't get into that "place in the real world" till about the end of the GGO arc in Volume 6. Though he certainly is thinking about his future in reality.

Ah thank you. Rather glad they sort of focus on what he, and I'd presume some of the others, are going to be doing with their lives in the aftermath of everything.

And I really do like that there's none of that usual "who will he pick" nonsense with Kirito. He chose Asuna and doesn't really waver at all in that, which I think makes for a nice story on the side of things with their relationship growing and evolving though I know it doesn't have quite the same focus it did in the first volume.
