But the penis is one of the most common thoughts of sexual penetration. In the mind of popular culture it comes closest to the default.
This is coming from a male-oriented mindset. It's probably alien to many that sex could happen without a penis, and if you think about it actual lesbians aren't attracted to males, but in the terms of males treating lesbians as arousal material, the penis is the easiest way to umm... self-insert.
