A couple comparisons I've made so far from the Haruhi-chan BD Box (Spoilered due to size):
The left is the store promotional video that was made for DVD and the right is the original animation in HD. The left was claimed to be in 1080i and the right is 1080p. It's really quite striking when viewing it in HD. Makes me very curious how the 2006 episodes will look.
