Personally, I think of Chihiro in
ef:melodies. Since that's a good memory for me, I have another reason to feel positive about this show -- besides KyoAni, Director Ishihara, writer Hanada Jukki, the plot summary, and the overall character design.
What are earlier examples of the eyepatch meme? I think of it as a classic moe meme: damaged girl needs protection. Are there other aspects?
