Someone aways say this, but I still think the odds of it happening is less than 20%. There just wasn't enough foreshadowing that justify him getting into a mobilesuit, not even if the second half season comes with a timeskip.
Saji is an average Japanese; someone who couldn't get involved with a war even if he wanted to.
