The issue with the picture is not that Shidou's apparent age as he does age normally. It's that Kotori remembers both a younger Shidou but not Mana. The photo was also of him when he was ten years old AKA 5 years ago. The same year a lot of background events happened the ones we should know about ( Spirits began reappearing after a long absence, the area that Shidou's adopted family lived was burned down in a huge fire, Origami lived in the same area until her parents were killed by a Spirit in that fire.)
