I know I'm not saying something new, but each personal judgment on a story, and much more on a harem show like this, is really influenced by the girl who wins. Even for who is an objective person. I am not, by the way. And more a story is unbalanced more a judgment is influenced, evenly I dare say.
So, even on Mashiro-Iro, where the story was told in a solid way, with really few flaws, people who are upset for the outcome keep on showing talking about how a side or support character had to be developed more, or complaining on this or that scene.
I'm not relating it to DragoonKain3 who wrote just before me.
I say it, just in case.
Spoiler for general impressions:
All in all if I had to say, from my point of view, Mashiro-iro has only one (marginal) flaw and it is connected to the first part of the show where Airi got really to much time over any other characters. This is not a flaw per se, even if I usually prefer a more choral development, but looking at the normal standards where you have things set in stone and the plot bends, sometimes in really ugly ways, to stay in line with it, I'm sure the writers foresaw the possible reaction to it.
In regard to the bath scene, in retrospect, I like how they used a cliche event giving to it the opposite meaning that it usually has. And a bit of reality. I mean, if in that situation nothing happens it's quite clear that a guy is not interested. And more, he has to have someone else in mind, because on the contrary, you know, life is not all about love ...
For comparisons I haven't watched Clannad (I know it's a sin, and I tried twice, but stopped after few minutes) so cant say, but I don't remember an harem show I can compare to. But it is true that I don't remember many harem show worthy to be
If I had to say probably it remind me of Kanon, but it's so distant that I don't know. Anyways probably it is simpler to relate it to some romance anime than harem-like. Because even if Mashiro had harem written on is top, it is not.
Anyways, the funny thing is that people are accustomed to accept really big flaws in behalf of his own outcome, but complain to really minor flaws in the other case.
