Eh, to my knowledge most novel endings are not exceptional because of hype and trying to meet/surpass expectations of the fans. Ergo, an ending will never be universally/unanimously approved/liked.
Point I'm trying to make is that a people will find reasons for why they don't like a series, whether it be justifiable or not.
