Generally speaking, authors of light novels have little say over what happens in anime adaptations of their works, to the point where it becomes notable when it's announced that they're working with the studio on the adaptation (see Shakugan no Shana Final and Zero no Tsukaima F). If you're going to put blame on the pacing, put it on the head of the studio, who is in control of the adaptation, and not on the author, who very likely is not.
