Eh. It's because of Accelerators broken ability. Accelerator himself isn't strong, it's his ability to manipulate stuff and re-direct attacks made against him that makes him such a hassle. I'm sure physically he couldn't even stand up to the very athletic Misaka who could kick him to the curb in a straight no powers brawl.

Ok, he isn't that good regarding physical abilities but I'm sure he would pose a serious problem on a fist fight.
