By the time of Unicorn, most of the thruster are mounted in shoulder and legs. Miniaturization of MS means less space to mount verniers and thus backpack.
Unicorn Era MS are huge (Average of 20 meters) compared to early UC and late UC (18 and 15 meter respectively)
