So episode 2 covered the rest of chapter 1 from the VN that wasn't in episode 1.
Saitou joining the Roshigumi was good news for them. Saito vs Okita with Saito winning, although it was enjoyable I'm waiting to see their first match.
Saito mysterious about what made him quit going to Shiekan.
They still don't have any sponsors and are a nobodies, the people out there don't trust them either.
Serizawa, since he comes from a wealthy samurai family and has connections, managed to get a meeting where... Yukimura Koudou appears and shows ochimizu!
Niimi (who IRL was a commander like Serizawa and Kondou but got demoted for bad behavior) seems to have plans regarding ochimizu...
Ryunosuke mad because he looked like useless Chizuru...
Spoiler for details not in the anime about this episode:
It didn't cover either Saito or Okita route since in that ones Ryunosuke was the referee and Okita got mad after he lost so he forced Ryunosuke to spar with him (poor Ryunosuke got beaten pretty badly)
A shame they rushed the Honjou-shuku Incident and didn't put the dialogues.
Quote:
Kondou: Serizawa-dono, what are you doing!
Serizawa: I understand I don't have a room to stay. Since it's early Spring and still cold outside, surely starting a bonfire is justified.
Heisuke: Kondou-san turned pale. You know how much Hijikata-san and Souji respected Kondou-san. How would they react when seeing Kondou-san treated this way? Both of them seemed ready to kill Serizawa on the spot. Souji, with the scariest face ever, refused to listen to any reasoning. As for Hijikata-san, although he's trying to stop Souji, he showed even stronger intention to kill Serizawa. The one who stopped them was Kondou-san himself.
Kondou: Stop it! Toshi! Souji!
Heisuke: His voice was so deep and loud. I don't think getting yelled at by Hijikata-san or Sannan-san was ever this scary.
Kondou: Serizawa-dono's anger isn't unreasonable. I'm to blame.
Heisuke: And with these words, Kondou-san knelt down, and did dogesa to Serizawa-san.
Kondou: Serizawa-dono, I take full responsibility of this mistake. I sincerely beg your pardon.
Heisuke: It's the first time I've seen Kondou-san do dogesa to anyone. I felt mortified as well. Indeed it's Kondou-san's fault that he didn't get a room, but must Serizawa-san go this far? How should I say it... It felt like all of us were doing dogesa. But Serizawa-san still didn't forgive him. And...
Hijikata: Stop it, Souji.
Souji: Why? Can't you see what Kondou-san did? Isn't Kondou-san already sincerely apologizing? Then he... How much further does he plan to humiliate Kondou-san!
Hijikata: Enough. I said stop already. Do you want to bring shame upon Kondou-san?
Heisuke: Although Hijikata-san scolded Souji, if the circumstances permit, he would kill Serizawa-san himself. That's why he's not looking at Souji, but staring at Serizawa-san all the time, with eyes so cold that's chilled to the bone.

Yuu is one of Yagi's children, the owner of the place where they are staying. A shame this dialogue wasn't in the episode:
Quote:
Yuu: Hey! The dog over there, have you seen Souji?
Ryu: What the...! Who are you calling "dog"?
Yuu: Aren't you a dog? That uncle named Serizawa said so. Tell me where Souji is. I think he came this way.
Ryu: I'm no dog! Watch your language, little brat!
Yuu: Miser! I'll look for him myself!
The kid ran off.
Ryu: How come even such a kid calls me a dog?
Souji: 'Cause it's a fact.

Liked the ending, your typical Hakuouki ending with mao song and beautiful visuals.
