Monopoly means they own the entire gaming world with no competition. Which means Playstation and XBox can't exist for Nintendo to be a monopoly.
Microsoft was sued over having a monopoly (because windows was the only mainstream O.S.), but they got out of it through loopholes and such. And to prevent it from happening again they helped resurrect Apple to gain a viable competition.
